ONE-YEAR DEPARTMENTAL LECTURERSHIP IN MODERN FRENCH LITERATURE

Applications are invited for a fixed-term Departmental Lecturership in Modern French Literature for one year from 1 October 2009. The appointment is to fulfil teaching needs arising from a period of academic leave, resulting from the award of a Leverhulme Research Fellowship to a current post-holder. The Lecturership will be held in conjunction with a non-stipendiary College Lecturership at Keble College. The Lecturer will be required to teach three hours a week in the College, and to give lectures, classes, and tutorials in the Faculty up to a further five hours a week. The salary will be in the range of £28,839 to £30,594 a year.

The successful candidate will provide teaching for Paper III in the Preliminary Examination, and for the Final Honour School on a range of authors and topics in French literature in the period 1900 to the present. There will also be an opportunity to contribute to teaching and supervision for the M.St. in Modern Languages, depending on the successful applicant's areas of expertise. A small amount of language teaching (one hour a week) will be required, as well as participation in examining.
