DEPARTMENTAL LECTURERSHIP IN PHILOSOPHY WITH A COLLEGE LECTURERSHIP IN PHILOSOPHY AT MERTON COLLEGE (FIXED-TERM)

Applications are invited for a fixed-term Departmental Lecturership in Philosophy, associated with a fixed-term College Lecturership in Philosophy at Merton College. Both Lecturerships are for the period 1 October 2009 to 30 September 2010, and are not renewable. The salary will be at Grade 7 (£28,839 to £35,469 a year, as at 1 October 2008).

Applicants should have a record of excellent research in philosophy. The successful candidate will be expected to give sixteen lectures or classes a year for the Faculty; to give up to an average of eight hours a week of tutorials and classes during term time for the College; to undertake a limited amount of graduate supervision; and to participate in examining and administrative duties as required.

ONLINE SERVICES MANAGER

The Graduate Admissions and Funding Office of the University of Oxford wishes to appoint an Online Services Manager. The University has over 7,300 graduates, representing around 40% of its full-time student population. Almost two-thirds are from outside the UK, coming from over 140 countries, so highly effective admissions procedures and exploiting the full potential of the web are central to the University's continuing success in attracting the world's best graduates.

The successful candidate will be a committed and enthusiastic manager who will work on operations as well as web-based recruitment and application materials, supervising a small team who process online applications and develop the Office's web pages. He or she will help ensure that the benefits of online applications are maximized and that the web is efficiently used as a promotional tool to reach prospective applicants of the highest calibre.

Well-qualified at degree level, the successful candidate will be an experienced manager with excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills, as well as the ability to understand process review and implement complex frameworks and standards. He or she will also have the capacity to use information architecture and navigation principles to enhance the University's large website. Experience of working in higher education would be desirable but is not necessary. The salary will be at Grade 8 (£36,532 to £43,622 a year, with a discretionary range up to £47,666).
