FIXED-TERM COLLEGE LECTURERSHIP IN CLASSICS

Applications are invited for a fixed-term College Lecturership in Classics (Greek and Latin Languages and Literature) for one year from 1 October 2009. The successful candidate will be required to teach a maximum of nine hours a week on average during Full Term, with a much lighter load in Michaelmas Term than in the following two; he or she will also be expected to play an active part in the organization of the subject, particularly in Hilary and Trinity Terms, when the College's Classics Tutor will be on leave. The teaching required will be for a range of options, specified in detail in the further particulars; the precise specification of the hours and salary of the appointment will depend on the number of these options offered by the successful applicant.

Candidates should have an excellent educational background, with a good first degree and, preferably (though not necessarily), a doctorate in Classics and the ability to teach high-achieving and challenging undergraduates via College tutorials.

Further particulars are available from the Trinity College website (http://www.trinity.ox.ac.uk/). A curriculum vitae, with details of career, research, and teaching experience, and the completed application form, should be sent by regular mail to the Academic Administrator, Trinity College, Oxford, OX1 3BH, by noon on 22 May 2009. Interviews will be held on 4 June 2009. Candidates are also requested to ask two referees to write in support of their application directly to the Academic Administrator, Annabel Ownsworth (tel. 01865 279910, email annabel.ownsworth@trinity.ox.ac.uk) by the closing date. It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that references are received by the closing date; email references are acceptable.
