SENIOR TUTOR

Lucy Cavendish College invites applications from women* with proven leadership qualities and excellent communication skills for the post of Senior Tutor.

The position offers a challenging opportunity to help develop Lucy Cavendish's profile as the Cambridge College for talented women of 21 and over. Lucy Cavendish College was founded in 1965; the College has 31 Fellows and an expanding student body of 220, half of whom are mature undergraduates, the other half graduates. The Senior Tutor will be a member of the College's Governing Body. She will be accountable to the Governing Body for overseeing the College's academic and pastoral activities, including outreach to and recruitment of undergraduates and graduates, and relating the College to the University and the wider world. Candidates should be committed to the ethos of the College as a women's institution and have experience of administration or management, preferably in an academic context.

The Senior Tutor is a Fellow of the College. The office is part-time (at least 50%); salary will be based on the experience and portfolio of the applicant but it is anticipated that it will be, pro rata, in the range of points 57-63 on the University's scale (currently between £46,278 and £55,259). The office is pensionable and the successful candidate is also eligible for membership of the College's private healthcare scheme. The appointment will be for three years in the first instance, from 1 October 2009, with the possibility of renewal, and is subject to the Statutes and Ordinances of the College, which include a residency requirement.
