Jesus College

CHAPLAIN AND WELFARE OFFICER

Jesus College invites applications from those in Priest's orders in the Church of England or the wider Anglican Communion to serve as Chaplain and welfare officer with effect from 1 September 2009, or as soon as possible thereafter. The first year is probationary.

The Chaplain and welfare officer will have two roles. He or she will be responsible to the Governing Body for the conduct of services in Chapel and for the administration of Chapel affairs, with an interest in the musical life of the Chapel. He or she will also be responsible for playing a major role in the welfare provision to members of the student community of all faiths, including none. This role will involve working closely with the other welfare providers including the Nurse and the Senior Tutor's team as well as with Tutorial Fellows. The Chaplain is a member of the Senior Common Room but not of the Governing Body.

The Chaplain will be paid on the relevant Oxford Diocesan scale. Accommodation will be available in a College house in Oxford. The post is pensionable.

Further particulars and application details are available on the Notices section of the College's website (http://www.jesus.ox.ac.uk/) or from the Assistant Bursar (tel. 01865 279716, email assistant.bursar@jesus.ox.ac.uk). Applications should include a covering letter, an application form, a curriculum vitae, and the names of three referees, who should be asked by the applicant to send their references to the Assistant Bursar, Jesus College, Oxford, OX1 3DW, so as to arrive by the closing date of Friday, 8 May 2009.
