FELLOWSHIP AND COLLEGE LECTURESHIP IN PURE MATHEMATICS

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a College Lectureship in Pure Mathematics and a Fellowship at St John's College, tenable for three years in the first instance, to begin on 1 October 2009. Candidates with a Ph.D. Degree in Mathematics and research interest in any field of Pure Mathematics will be considered for the post.

The successful candidate will be expected to undertake up to twelve hours of small group teaching a week during Full Term and to engage in scholarly research. The pensionable stipend will be in the range of £27,183 to £35,469 a year, with the usual additional privileges and responsibilities of a Fellowship, which include assistance with research expenses and meals at the Fellows' table.

The post can be held in conjunction with a suitable University Teaching Office. If the successful candidate is a University Teaching Officer then the candidate will be expected to undertake between four and six hours of small group teaching a week during Full Term. The pensionable stipend will then be in the range of £5,468 to £8,167 a year, based on six hours of teaching a week, with the usual additional privileges and responsibilities of a Fellowship including assistance with research expenses and meals at the Fellows' table.
