Classes of persons qualified to matriculate: Notice

9 March 2009

In its Notice in response to the remarks made at the Discussion of the Report of the General Board on Diplomas and Certificates awarded by the Institute of Continuing Education and other bodies (Reporter, p. 467), the Council stated that it was considering a change to its Notice on the classes of persons qualified to matriculate (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 171) in respect of Diplomas and Certificates. This change to the Notice is necessary to indicate which Degrees and Certificates require matriculation. The Degrees and Certificates to be governed by the new regulations set out in the Report (Reporter, p. 184) are open to non-members of the University and so do not include this requirement. The Council, acting under Statute B, I, 1(e), has now agreed to amend sub-paragraph (c) of the Notice so as to read:

(c) persons who have been approved by a Faculty Board, Degree Committee, or other body concerned as candidates for any one of the following University awards:
  (i)Diplomas in the Conservation of Easel Paintings, Management Studies, Modern Languages, and Theology and Religious Studies;
  (ii) Certificates in Humanities, Computing for Languages, and Modern Languages;
