Hughes Hall

SENIOR TUTOR

Hughes Hall wishes to appoint a new Senior Tutor from 1 July 2009 to build on the excellent work of the incumbent, Dr Philip Raymont, on his return to Australia.

Hughes Hall has a distinctive student body, predominantly graduate, but also mature undergraduates, with a strong international representation. With an average student age of 28 it is, in atmosphere and mission, very much a graduate College, with all the advantages of intellectual and social focus that this brings.

The Senior Tutor leads both the academic and tutorial/pastoral life of the College and plays a key role in the development of overall strategic policies. The role is critical in building engagement and sustaining the community life of the College, and calls for imaginative leadership. Close understanding of a collegiate University is essential.

The appointment is full time; the salary will be at point 57 on the University Scale, with USS pension benefits; and the individual will be elected to a Fellowship.

Full details of the post, and how to apply, are available on the Hughes Hall website (http://www.hughes.cam.ac.uk/; follow the links to 'About Hughes Hall' and then 'Positions Available').

Applications, which should include a full curriculum vitae, the names of three professional referees, plus a personal statement of up to two pages, should be submitted no later than Tuesday, 14 April 2009, to Mrs K. Hardy, Secretary to the President, Hughes Hall, Cambridge, CB1 2EW (email kh343@cam.ac.uk).
