Gonville and Caius College

COLLEGE LECTURESHIP IN BIOLOGY

Gonville and Caius College wishes to appoint a College Lecturer in Biology from 1 October 2009 (or as soon as possible thereafter) for up to five years in the first instance. Candidates will be expected to supervise for six hours a week during term, in the areas of cell and developmental biology. Candidates should hold an existing research or teaching appointment in the School of Biology or cognate institution, and the College Lectureship would be held concurrently with their University post. In addition to assisting with undergraduate supervision, the successful candidate may be required to assist with student admissions, and will be expected to play a full part in College life.

The stipend of a College Lecturer who holds a Cambridge University post is £1,125 rising in triennial increments to £6,230 being the Lecturer stipend, plus, currently, £2,970 for the first six hours of supervision a week (calculated as individual tuition). This stipend, including the element for supervisions, is pensionable. The person appointed will also be elected to a Fellowship in the College, with all the usual benefits.

Further details of the post and of the associated Fellowship may be seen on the College's website (http://www.cai.cam.ac.uk/fellows/collegelectureships/).

Signed applications, including a full curriculum vitae, should be sent (electronic format preferred) to the Senior Tutor, Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, CB2 1TA (email senior.tutor@cai.cam.ac.uk), by 1 May 2009. The letter of application should include details of the candidate's teaching experience, research interests, and publications, and the names of two referees, at least one of whom should be able to comment on any teaching experience of the applicant. Referees should be asked to write directly to the Senior Tutor by the closing date.
