Exeter College

STIPENDIARY LECTURERSHIP IN PHILOSOPHY

The College proposes, if there is a suitable candidate, to appoint a Stipendiary Lecturer in Philosophy, tenable from 1 October 2009 until 30 September 2010, with the possibility of renewal for one further year. The Lecturer will be required to undertake tutorial or class teaching of undergraduates of the College (or by exchange with other Colleges) up to a maximum of twelve (weighted) hours a week averaged over the three terms of the academical year, to set and mark College examinations, and to participate in the admissions process.

Applications should be addressed to the Academic Administrator at the address given above, and should include a curriculum vitae, a statement of the papers for Mods/Prelims and Finals which the applicant would be competent to teach, and the names of two referees. Applications should be received by the Academic Administrator not later than 1 April 2009. Referees should be asked to write without request from the College, their letters to be received by the Academic Administrator not later than the same date. One or two pieces of written work (totalling not more than 8,000 words) will be requested from shortlisted candidates. It is anticipated that shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in mid-April 2009.

STAINES MEDICAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP

The Fellowship is offered for research in Oxford in one of the Medical Sciences, such as Anatomy, Biochemistry, Clinical Medicine, Genetics, Neuroscience, Pathology, Pharmacology or Physiology.

The Fellowship, which is open to men and women equally, will be tenable for two years in the first instance, from 1 October 2009. The stipend will be determined in the light of any other emoluments the Fellow is receiving.

Applicants will normally be postdoctoral and in the early stages of their research career.
