Cambridge Commonwealth Trust and Cambridge Overseas Trust

SCHOLARSHIPS ASSISTANT

The Cambridge Commonwealth Trust and the Cambridge Overseas Trust are charitable organizations which handle several thousand applications for funding each year from overseas students who have been offered admission to the University of Cambridge. In 2008, the Trusts made 940 awards, and currently support nearly 2,000 students in residence at the University of Cambridge.

The Trusts are seeking a Scholarships Assistant to work within a small team at their offices at 38 Trinity Street, Cambridge, undertaking interesting and varied work to include: dealing with enquiries and handling correspondence, both in hard copy and email format; maintaining files, including the files of applicants and award-holders; handling correspondence, both in hard copy and email format; data entry using the Trusts' customized database; dealing with telephone enquiries; liaising with the Board of Graduate Studies, Departments, and Colleges on student matters; and other general clerical duties relating to awards for overseas students.

Applications are invited from pro-active and well-organized individuals who have a good general level of education and possess some or all of the following: computer literacy (using Microsoft office software, preferably including spreadsheet and database experience); numeracy; interpersonal skills; and the ability to work on one's own initiative.

A working knowledge of the University, although not essential, would be useful.

Normal hours of work are from 9 a.m. to 5.15 p.m., Mondays to Fridays, with one hour for lunch. Holiday entitlement is 25 days, plus eight statutory Bank Holidays. There is entitlement to membership of the University's Contributory Pension Scheme.
