DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

The College wishes to appoint its first Development Director to build on the strong foundations laid in recent years by its small development team.

This is an opportunity to make a real mark on the development of this lively and forward looking College, which will be celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2010. The successful candidate will become a Fellow of the College and will work closely with other College Officers, in particular the President.

The Development Director will develop the case for support in line with the College's strategic objectives, and will develop and implement alumni and fundraising strategy. He or she will have a direct role in cultivating prospective donors and requesting major gifts, which will call for high-level skills in relationship building.

Previous direct fundraising experience is desirable but the focus will be on the key qualities of leadership, drive, sound judgment, and a clear drive for results. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong commitment to the ethos and objectives which make Hughes Hall distinctive, and flair in articulating these attributes for a global community of alumni and other potential supporters.

The appointment will be for three years in the first instance, including a probationary period of twelve months. The salary on appointment will be in the region of £46,000, with benefits package. The post involves some out of hours working and travel, including overseas.

Full details of the post and how to apply are available on the College website (http://www.hughes.cam.ac.uk/index.html?section=about&page=jobs). The closing date for applications is 30 March 2009.
