DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

Somerville College was founded in 1879 to allow women to participate in University education at Oxford. One of the 38 Colleges of the University of Oxford, Somerville is an ambitious, confident, and progressive institution.

In June 2009, Somerville will launch a £25m campaign to raise funds for capital development, academic fellowships, and student support. The College is seeking a Development Director to lead all fundraising and alumni relations efforts.

To be successful in this role, the post-holder will need to have a proven track record in fundraising, and experience of team leadership, ideally gained in a higher education setting. The post-holder will have a confident approach to relationship building and outstanding communication skills. A lateral and creative approach to fundraising and a committed attitude to work, along with an empathy for the collegiate environment, will be essential to the success of the appointed candidate once in post.
