Equality and Diversity: Events

The following free Equality and Diversity events are open to members of the University and Colleges.

Race Equality Inaugural Lecture

Diane Abbott MP, parliamentarian, broadcaster, and commentator, will speak on the topic of Equality vs. academic freedom, at 5 p.m. on Monday, 23 February 2009, in the Lucia Windsor Room, Newnham College. The lecture forms part of a series celebrating the diversity of the University, which aims to raise awareness and stimulate discussion around equality and diversity issues, and to further opportunities for networking. There will be a drinks reception following the lecture.

Women's Forum Conference

This year's Women's Forum Conference will take place on Wednesday, 25 February 2009, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in Wolfson Hall, Churchill College. The theme of this year's conference is Realizing your potential, following on from the theme of last year's successful event, Confidence and voice. It will include an address by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alison Richard, and a keynote speech by Ms Christina Dodwell, explorer, author, broadcaster, and founder of the Dodwell Trust. A number of workshops around the theme of the conference will also be on offer.
