LIBRARY AND ARCHIVES GRADUATE TRAINEE

Magdalen College is seeking a graduate for a one-year internship (7 September 2009 to 3 September 2010). This post offers an exceptional opportunity for an imaginative pre-professional to gain experience in both library and archives work. The salary will be £15,216 a year plus benefits.

Applicants should have a good degree and intentions of pursuing a career in professional librarianship or archives work. The hours worked will be divided between Libraries and Archives: the graduate trainee will gain a wide variety of library experience, working in the main New Library, but with opportunities to explore Magdalen's rare book collections and oversee the Denning Law Library. Archives work, including cataloguing and answering queries, learning conservation methods, and setting up exhibitions will also be part of the internship. Training includes participation in Oxford University's SCONUL programme, and may include formal short courses depending on the trainee's particular interests.

Further particulars, and application and recruitment monitoring forms, can be found on the College website (http://www.magd.ox.ac.uk/) or may be obtained by telephoning 01865 276031.
