Lectureship in Greek Literature in the Faculty of Classics

The Faculty of Classics is seeking to appoint to a University Lectureship in Greek from 1 October 2009, or as soon as possible thereafter. This post is open to those, at any stage in their career, with a primary research interest in any area of Classical Greek literature. The salary will be in the range of £36,532 to £46,278 a year.

The successful applicant will benefit from the world-class facilities offered by the University and the generous support of research and teaching provided by the Faculty. The Faculty currently teaches approximately 250 undergraduates reading Classics (all of whom study both Greek and Latin language to degree level) and almost 100 graduate students (reading for Masters and doctoral degrees). It is one of the leading international centres in Classics, with some 40 teachers in Faculty and College posts. The successful candidate will be expected to take a full share of teaching across the range of Classical Greek literature and language, at all levels from beginners to doctoral research.

Communications Officer (Administrative Officer), University and Colleges, in the Office of External Affairs and Communications

The University is one of the world's leading universities and is looking for an ambitious journalist or internal communications specialist with an interest in higher education to join its talented team.

The post-holder will be responsible for editing the staff newsletter, managing internal communications activity across the University, and will also play an important liaison role with the Colleges and the intercollegiate bodies. The salary will be in the range of £27,183 to £35,469 a year.

The post-holder will have relevant experience and be able to demonstrate excellent writing and communication skills, as well as the ability to work under pressure. A strong team player, applicants should also have good interpersonal and relationship-building skills and have high professional standards.
