The Golden Web is a web-based cultural and educational initiative being developed in Cambridge by The Golden Web Foundation, an independent UK educational charity, with the first public release of the system due in 2011. As part of its development plans, The Golden Web Foundation, in association with Cambridge University, will be running a project to test web user behaviour in academic contexts. As part of this engagement, The Golden Web Foundation is seeking a co-ordinator/administrator to manage this project. The post is a full-time, fixed-term contract (up to twelve months), and the salary will be in the range of £30,000 to £35,000 a year.
The project will run for a twelve-month period (ending 31 December 2009). The project will collect and organize end-user feedback to help The Golden Web Foundation analyse its model's assumptions about how content with a pre-modern history theme could be associated through entities.
Initially the co-ordinator will identify, locate, and engage around 40 Cambridge University-based individuals to run a series of test activities. These will require the individuals to use a web-based interface, provided by The Golden Web Foundation, to identify entities within various test documents supplied by The Golden Web Foundation. The individuals will carry out the activities/tasks between April and September 2009. The co-ordinator will manage this process, which includes co-ordinating and supplying the content they will work on, maintaining the engagements, and providing training and support, and so on. In the final three months of the engagement, the co-ordinator will help collate and analyse the results of the testing.
