COLLEGE STIPENDIARY LECTURERSHIP IN HUMAN SCIENCES

St John's College intends to appoint a stipendiary Lecturer in Human Sciences for one year from 1 October 2009. The position arises because of the resident Tutors' leave arrangements. The successful candidate will be required to provide up to six hours of undergraduate tutorial teaching a week during Term. Candidates must be able to teach human population genetics, with reference to both human evolution and to medical genetics, for the Human Sciences Honour's paper in Human Genetics and Evolution, as well as general first year undergraduate genetics. The syllabus can be found on the Human Sciences website (http://www.human-sciences.ox.ac.uk/). The Lecturer will be expected to share administrative and pastoral duties and to share in the undergraduate admissions process.

The salary will be £16,989 a year, with three lunches and two dinners a week throughout the year. A research allowance is also available.

VISITING SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP 2010-11

The President and Fellows of St John's College invite applications for a Visiting Senior Research Fellowship for the academical year 2010-11, or part thereof. The Fellowship is intended to offer an experienced academic (normally with considerable postdoctoral experience) of outstanding distinction, from abroad or from the United Kingdom, an opportunity to pursue her or his own study or research as a member of the College.

Participation in the activities of the College's Research Centre by the Fellow would be welcomed. The Research Centre was established to provide focus and support for the College's intellectual and academic life, to support new research, and to enhance the College's role in promoting first-class innovative research in the University of Oxford and the academic community at large.

The Fellow will be expected to reside in Oxford during term. Accommodation (free of charge) for a married or unmarried Fellow will be provided in the vicinity of the College. The Fellow will have the right to lunch and dine in College, also free of charge. There is no stipend attached to the Fellowship and no facilities or domestic help can be offered to spouses, partners or family members (beyond sharing the above accommodation).

There is no application form for these Fellowships. Applications, in the form of a letter, should include a full curriculum vitae, the names of three referees, and a statement of the research or other work proposed during the Fellowship. Applications should be received by the Academic Administrator, St John's College, Oxford, OX1 3JP, not later than noon on Monday, 9 March 2009.
