THE THESAURUS ISLAMICUS FOUNDATION SUMMER VISITING SCHOLARSHIP

Pembroke College and the Thesaurus Islamicus Foundation invite applications from rising and established scholars of Islamic studies, with particular interests in Islamic manuscripts or art, for a Visiting Scholarship tenable at Pembroke College in the summer of 2009. The Visiting Scholar, who will be expected to arrive in Cambridge to attend the fifth Islamic Manuscript Association Conference (23-27 July 2009) and annual codicology workshop, will be provided with ten weeks' accommodation, use of a study in College, and a Fellow's social rights and privileges, including seven meals a week at High Table at Pembroke College, and full access to the University's excellent library and computing resources, as well as benefiting from contact with Cambridge's community of scholars of Islamic literature, history, and culture. The cost of international economy travel expenses to and from Cambridge are also covered by the Scholarship.

Applications for the Visiting Scholarship, which should include a curriculum vitae, a statement of current research interests, a description of the research topic proposed for the period of the Visiting Scholarship, and the names of two academic referees, should be sent to Pembroke College, Cambridge, CB2 1RF (email sts.staff@pem.cam.ac.uk) by 22 February 2009. Informal inquiries may be addressed to Professor Charles Melville (email cpm1000@cam.ac.uk).
