STONE ASHDOWN DIRECTOR

The Centre for the Study of Muslim-Jewish Relations (CMJR) wishes to appoint the Stone Ashdown Director who will also serve as Lecturer in Muslim-Jewish Relations. The post-holder's principal responsibilities will be to focus on the contemporary development of Jewish and/or Muslim communities and identities in a European context, and to take a leading role in public outreach and dialogue programmes. The post-holder will need to be able to work in a successful small team environment, alongside CMJR academic staff, have energy and enthusiasm to develop this area of study, and be able to represent the CMJR in the public domain.

Applicants should have completed a Ph.D. Degree or equivalent higher degree. The Centre is looking for someone with leadership skills, a strong publications record, or the demonstrable potential to deliver this in the near future. Applicants should provide evidence that they have a close acquaintance with the modern history and current situation of Muslim and/or Jewish communities, particularly the UK, have a good knowledge of the pertinent literature, as well as experience in working with these communities.

This post is offered on a full-time basis and represents an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced academic, with leadership skills, to join a pioneering and innovative Centre. The salary will be £30,000 a year.
