Magdalen College

TUTORIAL FELLOWSHIP IN ECONOMICS

Magdalen College proposes to elect an Official (Tutorial) Fellow in Economics with effect from 1 October 2009. The successful candidate will teach Macroeconomics, Quantitative Economics (Empirical Modelling and Applications), and at least one additional paper for Magdalen undergraduates taking the degree courses in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) and Engineering, Economics, and Management (EEM). The College therefore anticipates that the successful candidate is likely to be a macroeconomist and/or an empirical economist. Pay will be on the scale £42,351 to £56,917 a year. There will also be an entitlement to College accommodation or to a housing allowance, together with a research allowance and full meal rights, and it will be possible to make substantial earnings from external consultancy work without reduction of stipend. The successful candidate will be required to undertake and publish research in Economics of the standard associated with successful consideration under the recent Research Assessment Exercise.

Applications (nine copies), containing a completed application cover sheet (including the names of three referees), a curriculum vitae, and a statement of teaching experience and research interests (with a list of publications), should be sent to the President's Secretary, Mrs Carolyn Tucker, Magdalen College, Oxford, OX1 4AU, to arrive by noon on Thursday, 15 January 2009. Candidates should ask their referees to write directly to the President's Secretary by this deadline without further prompting.
