Title of Honorary Professor: Notice

In accordance with the regulations for the titles of Honorary Professor and Honorary Reader (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 646), and on the recommendation of the Faculty Boards concerned, the General Board have conferred the following titles on the persons named:

For five years with effect from 1 October 2008:

Honorary Professor of Computational Genomics: Dr Richard Durbin, Principal Investigator, Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics.

Honorary Professor of Human Genetics: Professor Leena Peltonen, Head of Human Genetics, Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, in the Department of Medical Genetics.

Honorary Professor of Epigenetics: Dr Wolf Reik, Head of the Laboratory of Developmental Genetics and Imprinting, Babraham Institute, in the Department of Physiology, Development, and Neuroscience.

For four years with effect from 1 October 2008:

Honorary Professor of Magnetic Resonance Applied to Cancer: Professor John Griffiths, Head of Molecular Imaging, Cancer Research UK Cambridge Research Institute, in the Department of Oncology.

Honorary Professor of the History of Art: Professor Richard Marks, Emeritus Professor of the History of Art, University of York, in the Department of History of Art.

For one year with effect from 1 October 2008:

Honorary Professor of Sociology: Professor Michael Mann, Professor of Sociology, University of California, Los Angeles, in the Department of Sociology.

Emeritus Honorary Professors:

The following persons have been granted the title of Emeritus Honorary Professor with effect from 1 October 2008:

Emeritus Honorary Professor of Music: Professor Christopher Hogwood, Honorary Fellow of Pembroke College.

Emeritus Honorary Professor of Integrative Physiology: Professor Simon Maddrell, CAI.

Emeritus Honorary Professor of Ethical and Political Philosophy: Professor Onora O'Neill, Honorary Fellow of Newnham College.
