CHIEF EXECUTIVE AND SECRETARY TO THE DELEGATES

Oxford University Press is seeking a new Chief Executive to replace Dr Henry Reece, who will retire in June 2009.

The Press is a Department of the University of Oxford, and is by far the biggest university press in the world, with an annual turnover of nearly £500m. It has 5,000 employees based in nearly fifty countries, and has built an enviable international reputation through an extremely diverse publishing programme. The appointee will be responsible for ensuring the continued success of the Press in pursuit of its core mission, which is to further the University's objective of excellence in research, scholarship, and education by publishing worldwide.

Candidates for this unique and challenging role should have strong academic credentials, an outstanding track record of business achievement as a senior executive within the publishing industry, combined with exceptional communication skills and the proven ability to manage complex sets of stakeholder relationships. He or she will have a passion for the objectives of the Press and will be a credible ambassador for the Press and University around the world. The successful candidate will have excellent and proven leadership skills and the strategic vision to enable the Press successfully to navigate the complexity thrown up by technological developments over the next years of its evolution.
