Examination in Multi-Disciplinary Gender Studies for the degree of Master of Philosophy

On the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Earth Sciences and Geography, the General Board and the Board of Graduate Studies have approved Multi-Disciplinary Gender Studies as a subject for advanced study for the M.Phil. Degree (one-year course), with effect from 1 October 2009. Special regulations for the examination in the subject have been approved as follows:

Multi-Disciplinary Gender Studies

1. The scheme of examination for the one-year course of study in Multi-Disciplinary Gender Studies for the degree of Master of Philosophy shall consist of:
 (a) two essays each of not more than 5,000 words in length, on a subject chosen by the candidate from a list of subjects announced by the Degree Committee for the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Geography, which shall be concerned with research methods in gender studies;
 (b) a thesis, of not more than 20,000 words in length, excluding footnotes, tables, appendices, and bibliography, on a subject approved by the Degree Committee.

2. At the discretion of the Examiners the examination may include an oral examination on any or all of the components of the examination specified in Regulation 1, and on the general field of knowledge within which they fall.
