Announcement of lectures, seminars, etc.

The following lectures, seminars, etc. will be open to members of the University and others who are interested.

Criminology. Professor Anthony Bottoms, Emeritus Wolfson Professor of Criminology, and Professor Joanna Shapland, Professor of Criminal Justice and Director of the Centre for Criminological Research, University of Sheffield, will give a public seminar entitled Young adult persistent offenders and the uncertain path to desistance, about their work as co-Directors of the Sheffield Desistance Study, on Thursday, 20 November, at 5.30 p.m. in Seminar Room B3 at the Institute of Criminology (Sidgwick Avenue Site).

Centre for Gender Studies. Multidisciplinary Gender Research Seminars. Alison Stone, of the University of Lancaster, will give a seminar entitled Mother-daughter relations in Chodorow and Irigaray, on Thursday, 20 November, at 1 p.m. in the Sir William Hardy Building (Downing Site), Room HB101. Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics. Professor Anton Zorich, of Université de Rennes 1, will give the Eighty-Fifth Kuwait Foundation Lecture, entitled Flat surfaces and dynamics in moduli spaces of curves, at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, 18 November, in the Wolfson Room, Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Wilberforce Road (entrance on Clarkson Road before the Isaac Newton Institute).
