Syllabic Writing Conference: Notice

An interdisciplinary conference bringing together linguists, epigraphists, and archaeologists working on Bronze Age and Iron Age Cyprus, entitled Syllabic writing on Cyprus and its context, will take place on Friday, 12 December and Saturday, 13 December 2008, in the Faculty of Classics.

Papers on a range of related subjects will be given by Yves Duhoux, of the University of Louvain, Markus Egetmeyer, of the University of Sorbonne, Silvia Ferrara, of the University of Oxford, Maria Iacovou, of the University of Cyprus, Jean-Pierre Olivier, of the National Fund for Scientific Research, Belgium, Massimo Perna, of the University of Naples, and Susan Sherratt, of the University of Sheffield.

Sessions will take place from the afternoon of Friday, 12 December to the evening of Saturday, 13 December 2008, followed by a conference dinner on the Saturday night at Selwyn College.

The conference is open to all, but due to limitations of space please contact the Conference Organizer, Philippa Steele (email pms45@cam.ac.uk) to register an intention to attend. A small conference fee will be charged to cover facilities and refreshments, and those delegates wishing to attend the conference dinner are advised that it will be necessary to book in advance.
