Philosophical Society

On Monday, 10 November 2008, at 5.30 p.m. in the Bristol-Myers Squibb Lecture Theatre, Department of Chemistry, Lensfield Road, Professor David Spiegelhalter, OBE, FRS, the Winton Professor of the Public Understanding of Risk, Statistical Laboratory, Centre for Mathematical Sciences, will deliver a lecture entitled Lost in translation: challenges in applying society's risks to individuals. All who are interested are invited.

At a meeting held on Monday, 27 October 2008, in the Bristol-Myers Squibb Lecture Theatre, Professor A. W. Cuthbert, President, was in the Chair.

Professor Ian Hutchings, FREng, of the Institute of Manufacturing, delivered a lecture entitled Writing the future: opportunities and challenges in inkjet printing. A vote of thanks was moved by Dr Claire Barlow.

Thirty-seven Research Studentships amounting to £33,750 have been awarded to Fellows of the Society.
