Announcement of lectures, seminars, etc.

The following lectures, seminars, etc. will be open to members of the University and others who are interested.

Cambridge Seminar on Religion, Conflict, and its Aftermath. This seminar series, sponsored by the Religion and Ethics in War and Peace-Making Programme of Faith in Society, is co-ordinated by Britt Baillie (email bab30@cam.ac.uk), Lucia Faltin (email lf225@cam.ac.uk), Dr Inga Volmer (email iv211@cam.ac.uk), and Dr George Wilkes (email grw1000@cam.ac.uk). The seminars form part of the broader programme of the interdisciplinary Post-Conflict and Post-Crisis Research Group.

Professor Shai Feldman, of Brandeis University, will give a seminar entitled Is there hope for Track Two talks between Israelis and their Islamist antagonists? from 5.30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on 17 November, in the Centre of International Studies, Senior Common Room.

Dr Douglas Hedley, of the Faculty of Divinity, will give a seminar entitled Sacrifice, from 5.30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on 27 November, in the Okinaga Room, St Edmund's College.

Continuing Education. Research Seminar Series. Professor Miriam Zukas, of the University of Leeds, and Ms Janice Malcolm, of the University of Kent, will give a seminar entitled Researching academic identity, on Wednesday, 12 November at 5.30 p.m., at Wolfson College, Barton Road. Light refreshments will be served afterwards. Criminology. Professor Jane L. Ireland, of the University of Central Lancashire and Psychological Service, Ashworth High Secure Hospital, Mersey Care NHS Trust, will give a public seminar entitled Researching bullying among prisoners: a decade of research, on Thursday, 6 November, at 2 p.m. in Seminar Room B3 at the Institute of Criminology (Sidgwick Avenue Site).

Philosophy. Professor Richard Moran, Brian D. Young Professor of Philosophy, Harvard University, will give the third Routledge Lecture in Philosophy, entitled Iris Murdoch and the rejection of existentialism, at 5.15 p.m. on Thursday, 30 October, in the Little Hall, Sidgwick Avenue.
