Dr Simon Campbell, CBE, former President of the Royal Society of Chemistry, former Pfizer Senior Vice-President for Discovery, will give a lecture entitled Something's come up - the discovery of new drugs (including Cardura, Norvasc, and Viagra), at 7.30 p.m. on Monday, 3 November 2008, in the Wolfson Lecture Theatre, Churchill College. Coffee and biscuits will be served from 7 p.m. in the foyer outside the theatre. All are welcome. CSAR members are admitted free (together with their guests, depending upon their type of membership). Non-members are asked to pay a nominal entry fee of £3.00.

At a meeting held on Monday, 20 October 2008 in the Wolfson Lecture Theatre, Churchill College, Sir Sam Edwards, FRS, was in the Chair. Professor Brian J. Ford, President, delivered a lecture entitled Intelligence and the living cell: adaptive behaviour and decision-making by living cells. A vote of thanks was moved by Dr Peter Forster.
