University Lecturer in the Faculty of Philosophy

The Faculty of Philosophy is seeking to appoint a University Lecturer in Philosophy. The successful candidate will have a proven record of excellence in teaching and research and must be able to take up the appointment on 1 October 2009.

The successful candidate will contribute to the Faculty's work in research, and graduate and undergraduate teaching. Her/his research speciality may be in any area of Philosophy. Ability to teach in one or more of the following areas, at undergraduate level at least, would be an advantage: Metaphysics, Philosophy of Mind, History of Philosophy (including Ancient Philosophy), Epistemology, Ethics, Aesthetics. The salary will be in the range of £34,793 to £44,074 a year (pay award pending).

This post is permanent, subject to the satisfactory completion of a review of the initial probationary period of office; this review is intended to be a constructive one, is non-competitive, and most post-holders in Cambridge complete it satisfactorily.

Clinical Lecturer/Specialty Registrar in Public Health in the School of Clinical Medicine

Applications are invited from candidates for this post to take up appointment as soon as possible. Applicants should have had suitable experience and training and be of the standing required for an honorary contract of service with the Suffolk PCT as a Specialty Registrar. Candidates must have full membership of the Faculty of Public Health by examination and have completed phases 1 and 2 of the new curriculum or equivalent. The successful candidate will be required to undertake teaching and clinical duties and also to carry out research. The appointment will be for four years with the possibility of reappointment for a further two years. The salary will be on the scale £30,231 to £52,346 a year.

Clinical Lecturer/Specialty Registrar in Renal Medicine and Immunology in the Department of Medicine

The Department of Medicine is seeking a Clinical Lecturer to take up appointment in 2009. The clinical training associated with this post will be in Renal Medicine, and the candidate appointed will be of the standing required for an honorary contract of service with the NHS Executive Eastern Region as a Specialty Registrar/ST3-7 in Renal Medicine. The post-holder will be required to undertake clinical work, teaching, and research, the latter likely to be in an area related to immunology. The post is approved for dual training in General Internal Medicine (GIM) if required. Teaching will include acting as a Clinical Supervisor to a group of students. Applicants should hold a research degree (Ph.D. or M.D.). The appointment will be for four years with the possibility of reappointment for a further two years. The salary will be on the scale £30,231 to £52,346 a year.
