Moses and Mary Finley Research Fellowship

Darwin College proposes to elect a stipendiary Moses and Mary Finley Research Fellow from 1 October 2009. The Fellowship is available for research within the field of ancient history of the Mediterranean world and/or the near East, down to the end of the Sixth Century AD and is tenable for three years with the possibility of renewal for a fourth.

Candidates should be at a relatively early stage in their research careers. Candidates should have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree, or an equivalent degree, and be able to present to the electors substantial amounts of written work of outstanding quality, published or unpublished. No candidate should have completed more than seven years of postgraduate research by 1 October 2009.

The successful candidate will be subject to the Statutes and Ordinances of the College, including the obligation to reside in Cambridge for at least two-thirds of each University term, unless excused by the Governing Body. The Moses and Mary Research Fellow will become a member of the Governing Body and will have Fellows' dining rights. It may be possible to provide limited rented accommodation, for a maximum period of two years, subject to availability, for which a charge will be made. An annual allowance will be available for travel and research expenses. The closing date for applications is 17 October 2008.

Schlumberger Interdisciplinary Research Fellowship

The Governing Body of Darwin College and Schlumberger Cambridge Research Limited jointly invite applications for a non-stipendiary Research Fellowship supporting interdisciplinary research in the field of chemistry, physics, geophysics, mathematics, engineering (including chemical engineering), and materials science. Candidates will be expected to pursue interdisciplinary research across one or more lines of inquiry during the tenure of the Fellowship. The Fellowship is open to men and women from any university, irrespective of age, and is intended for outstanding researchers who are completing, or who have recently completed, their Ph.D. Degree. No candidate should have completed in total more than seven years of postgraduate research by 1 October 2009.

The Fellowship will be tenable for two years commencing 1 October 2009 or on a date to be agreed. The Schlumberger Research Fellow will become a member of the Governing Body and will have dining rights. The closing date for applications is 17 October 2008.

Non-stipendiary Research Fellowships

The Governing Body of Darwin College proposes to elect a number of non-stipendiary Research Fellows, without limitation of subject, tenable for three years from 1 October 2009.

The Fellowships are open to men and women from any university, irrespective of age, without limitation of subject, and are intended for outstanding researchers who are completing, or who have recently completed, their Ph.D. Degree. No candidate should have completed in total more than seven years of postgraduate research by 1 October 2009. The Research Fellow will become a member of the Governing Body and will have dining rights. The closing date for applications is 9 January 2009.
