Clare College

JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS 2009-12

Clare College offers two Junior Research Fellowships, normally one in Sciences and one in Humanities, tenable for three years from 1 October 2009. The Fellowships are open to graduates of any university who must have completed no more than four years' full-time research in the Humanities, or no more than five years' full-time research in the Sciences by 1 January 2009.

Stipends are payable on the University's salary scale, starting at spine point 39: £25,888. However, £5,000 a year will be deducted if resident in College. (All stipends are reviewed annually.) The payment of an increment after the first year is conditional upon the Ph.D. Degree having been awarded. Research Fellows may join the University Superannuation Scheme, and the College is prepared, where appropriate, to make a contribution to University fees.

Research Fellows are entitled to College accommodation and up to ten free lunches/dinners per week. The College may grant up to £1,000 in any one academical year for travel in connection with attendance at conferences and for essential research expenses, including publication costs, and up to £2,000 towards the cost of purchasing IT equipment.

Research Fellows are members of the Governing Body and are expected to participate in the governance and social life of the College. Research Fellows may undertake up to six hours' teaching a week in University Term.

Applications must be submitted online via the College website (http://www.clare.cam.ac.uk/jrf/) by Monday, 15 December 2008. Two references, also submitted online, must be supplied by that date for the application to be eligible.
