Report of the Council on the sale of premises at 6 Chaucer Road

The COUNCIL begs leave to report to the University as follows:

1. 6 Chaucer Road is a detached property with outbuildings which formerly housed the Martin Centre for Architectural and Urban Studies, the research centre of the Department of Architecture. The Martin Centre vacated the premises earlier this year on their relocation to refurbished space at the main department site at Scroope Terrace. The building also contains a residential flat which will shortly be vacated on the relocation of the tenant. The property is remote from the main academic sites and is not needed for operational purposes. The Finance Committee has advised that it be sold, with the proceeds applied towards the cost of the refurbishment of Scroope Terrace.

2. The Council recommends:

That approval be given to the sale of a long leasehold interest in 6 Chaucer Road.
