University Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Operations Management at Judge Business School

Due to the growing success of Judge Business School, the School is looking to recruit in the field of Operations Management. Successful candidates will be able to provide clear evidence of intellectual excellence and the potential and ambition to establish a publications record in the leading journals in their field; they will have a Ph.D. Degree (or if applying for a Lectureship, will expect soon to receive it) in a relevant subject. Experience of teaching at undergraduate, postgraduate or post-experience levels is desirable.

Depending on the experience of the successful candidate, the appointment will be made at Senior Lecturer or Lecturer level. The salary will be in the range of £46,759 to £49,606 a year (pay award pending), and a competitive package of benefits is on offer. Appointments will be from 1 September 2009 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Medicine

Applications are invited for a Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Medicine assigned to Clinical Pharmacology, to take up appointment as soon as possible. The person appointed will be of the standing required for an honorary contract of service with the NHS Executive Eastern Region as a Specialist Registrar and will be required to undertake clinical work, teaching, and research. Teaching will include acting as a Clinical Supervisor to a group of students. The appointment will be for four years, with the possibility of reappointment for a further two years. The salary will be on the scale £30,231 to £52,346 a year.

Senior Assistant Registrary in the Secretariat, University Offices

A senior manager is required with good higher education or comparable experience (legal, public service, managerial, etc.) to work with the Registrary (the head of the University's administrative service), the Administrative Secretary (who deals with support for the University Council, the principal policy-making and executive body of the University), and a Pro-Vice-Chancellor (who has, among other things, responsibility for risk management, continuity management, value for money, and comparable functions). The post-holder will take part in the support of the University Council, the University Finance Committee, and other major University bodies (for example the Information Strategy and Services Syndicate). The post-holder will also manage Freedom of Information and Data Protection business.

The post becomes vacant in early December 2008.

The post is a University Office of Senior Assistant Registrary (stipend currently in the range £46,759 to £49,606). Appointment will be to the retiring age, subject to the satisfactory completion of a probationary period.

Business and Operations Manager (Administrative Officer) in the Department of Public Health and Primary Care

The Department of Public Health and Primary Care, which forms part of the School of Clinical Medicine, is an expanding 200-person Department with an international reputation for research and teaching, and a substantial annual research income. The Department consists of several research and teaching groups, and is a partner in the Cambridge Institute of Public Health.

The present post is the Department's senior administrative position, responsible for managing departmental administrative functions in relation to resources, personnel, and accommodation. The post-holder supervises the work of about a dozen administrative, financial, and clerical staff and provides support to the Head of Department and other academic staff in relation to several research and teaching programmes. The salary will be in the range of £30,912 to £41,545 a year (pay award pending).

The successful candidate will have an A-level standard education or equivalent (and preferably a university degree) and have extensive administrative and financial experience at a senior level. Knowledge and understanding of a higher education environment would be an advantage.

He/she should possess excellent skills in relation to oral and written communication, organization and people management, and IT. He/she will be pro-active, energetic, and keen to play a key role in the Department's further expansion.

Clinical Veterinarian (Equine First Opinion Practice) in the Department of Veterinary Medicine

The Department of Veterinary Medicine's first opinion 100% equine practice has a growing client base. The Department requires an Equine Clinical Veterinarian from 1 December 2008 or as soon as possible thereafter to promote the further development of this teaching resource for clinical veterinary students. The post-holder will work as part of a team to provide 24-hour care and preventative medicine to our equine clients, and some instruction to students, both as a mobile service and within the hospital in all aspects of the clinical caseload. Applicants should be a MRCVS with a minimum of two years' experience in equine practice. An RCVS Certificate or strong interest in a specific equine discipline would be an advantage.

The limit of tenure is two years. The salary will be in the range £34,793 to £44,074 a year (pay award pending).

Computer Officer in the School of Clinical Medicine

Applications are invited for a position within the Clinical School IT Support Service. The post-holder will be working within a team providing IT support for specific groups of University departments based at the Addenbrooke's site and will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The duties will include supporting a range of computer hardware and software running under Windows 2000/XP, Vista, and Mac OS X. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and related software running under Windows XP Pro is essential. Applicants are expected to hold a good degree or equivalent qualification. Knowledge and/or experience of the following technologies would be advantageous: WDS, Active Directory, DHCP, Printer management, and OS X Leopard. The post-holder will take part in the IT Support Helpdesk rota as well as assisting in the development and management of services and servers.

Appointment will be for three years in the first instance. The salary will be on the scale £24,403 to £28,290 a year (pay award pending, and with a possible progression on contribution once in post to £33,780).

Two posts in the Institute of Continuing Education: Project Manager and Web programmer/developer

Project Manager

A project manager is required to manage the restructuring and updating of the student management system and course management system at the Institute over a two-year period. The Institute has c. 11,000 registered students a year enrolled on 600-700 credit and non-credit bearing courses taught in a variety of locations. The project manager will co-ordinate the input of a small, dedicated team. The role includes responsibility for ensuring appropriate input from Institute staff and the communication of the progress of the project across the Institute.

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent, have project management and team management skills, excellent communication and IT skills, including experience with database systems and web based management systems. An interest in the field of education would be advantageous.

The limit of tenure is two years. The salary will be in the range £30,912 to £41,545 a year.

Web Programmer/developer

A web programmer/developer is required to work as part of a small team, over a two-year period, to design and construct web-based database systems in support of courses management at the Institute, based at Madingley Hall. Candidates should have relevant experience and skills in developing web applications using PHP/MySQL and be self-motivated and adaptable. Candidates must have good written and spoken English and be able to work in a team environment. Knowledge and experience of the educational sector and, in particular, course management and/or student management systems would be an advantage.

The limit of tenure is two years. The salary will be in the range £22,332 to £25,135 a year.
