Girton College

HEAD OF HOUSE

The Fellows of Girton College seek to appoint a new Head of House to succeed Professor Dame Marilyn Strathern who retires from the Mistress-ship in late September 2009 after eleven years.

The successful candidate will bring a record of distinguished achievement in her or his chosen field - academic or other - and will show a strong identification with the College's progressive ethos and commitment to academic excellence. Vision, energy, and first-class communication skills are essential and should be combined with financial acumen and a willingness to engage in fundraising. Within the College, the Head of House will be visible and supportive, fostering a culture which promotes high academic achievement within an environment which is friendly and encouraging; externally, he or she will be an influential advocate for the College, acting as its principal representative and building effective relationships with a number of stakeholders.

To apply for this position, or to receive further particulars of the appointment, please contact Christine Sloan, Heidrick & Struggles (UK) Ltd, 3 Burlington Gardens, London, W1S 3EP (email csloan@heidrick.com, tel. +44 (0)20 7075 4083), stating where the advertisement was seen.

The closing date for the receipt of applications is 12 September 2008.

Girton College welcomes applications from men and women and is committed to equal opportunities.
