Deputy Director (Part-time) of the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences

Applications are invited for the half-time post of Deputy Director of the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences. The duties of the post-holder will be to assist the Director with the academic leadership of the Institute and all matters connected with the planning and smooth running of the Visitor Research Programme. Candidates should be experienced and involved in research in some branch of mathematical sciences. The Deputy Directorship may be held concurrently with another University office. The salary will be in the range of £46,759 to £54,206 a year pro rata, with a limit of tenure of five years from 1 October 2008.

Health and Safety Officer (Senior Technical Officer) in the School of the Biological Sciences

An experienced Safety Officer is needed to participate fully, and provide expertise and advice, in all aspects of health and safety within the School of the Biological Sciences. The successful candidate will work closely with the teaching and research staff in Departments, with other members of the School, UBSS and Faculty Board Offices, and the Health and Safety Division. The salary will be in the range of £34,793 to £44,074 a year.

The successful applicant will have a relevant first degree and, desirably, membership of a professional safety organization (e.g. IOSH, ISTR). Relevant work experience, together with the ability to communicate well, is essential.
