STIPENDIARY LECTURERSHIP IN ECONOMICS

Applications are invited for a one year, fixed-term Stipendiary Lecturership in Economics for the 2008-09 academical year, tenable from 15 September 2008, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Candidates must be able to provide teaching for the macroeconomics elements of the PPE Prelims and those taking Prelims in Economics and Management. They must in addition be able to offer the second year macroeconomics core course and the quantitative economics core course (both for first examination in 2010). Details of the syllabus are available at http://www.politics.ox.ac.uk/teaching/ug/.

The salary will be on the Senior Tutors' Stipendiary Lecturership scale, which for a teaching stint of eight contact hours would be in the range of £19,168 to £21,574 (depending on experience). The Lecturer will have a room in College and will be entitled to lunch and dinner free of charge in College throughout the year when the kitchens are open, and to a number of other benefits.

The appointee will be required to provide up to eight weighted hours of tutorial teaching a week, averaged over the three eight-week terms of the year. In addition, the successful applicant will be responsible, jointly with Professor Mukerji (Fellow in Microeconomics) and Dr Doornik (Fellow in Economics and Management) for the organization of the subject and for the provision of pastoral care and the academic welfare of University College's students in relevant subjects. The Lecturer will also be required to set start-of-term collections (mock College examinations), participate in the admissions interviews in Michaelmas Term 2008, and assist with data-entry for admissions through the ADSS computer system.
