Administrative Officer (Disability Resource Centre Manager) in the Human Resources Division

Following the retirement of Mrs Judith Jesky, applications are invited for the above position. Reporting to the Head of Equality and Diversity, the post-holder will be responsible for ensuring the provision of support services and advice for all those requiring disability related services across the University and Colleges. The successful applicant will manage the staff and resources of the Disability Resource Centre (the DRC) on a day to day basis and initiate and implement agreed changes to ensure the effective operation of the Centre, and appropriate provision of services to students and staff with disabilities.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate an awareness and understanding of the public sector, have experience in effectively managing a team providing services, and have excellent communication skills. The salary will be in the range of £34,793 to £44,074 a year.

Departmental Administrator (Departmental Secretary) in the Department of Pharmacology

The Department of Pharmacology wishes to recruit as soon as possible a Departmental Administrator. The Departmental Administrator (also known as the Departmental Secretary) is the senior administrative position in the Department of Pharmacology. The main functions of the post are to support the Head of Department by giving administrative advice and by providing overall management of the administrative and technical support service; to provide financial planning and control; to manage the appointment of staff; to manage grants and contracts at all stages, and to discharge specific responsibilities delegated to the Department by the University or by the School of the Biological Sciences. The salary will be in the range of £30,912 to £41,545 a year.

The Administrator is directly responsible for four staff and for heading a team of 22 academic-related and assistant staff. He/she also provides personnel administration for a total of some 19 tenured academic staff and a further 70 research staff (postdoctoral workers or Ph.D. Degree students). The departmental budget provided by the University is approximately £1.4m a year. In addition, there are discretionary or donation accounts of c. £1.2m and around 44 research grants with an annual expenditure of c. £2m. Administrative Officers (Finance Advisers) in the Finance Division (two posts)

Applications are invited for two roles within the Financial Planning and Analysis section of the Finance Division. The Financial Planning and Analysis team has responsibility for preparing budgetary information and providing financial advice, management information, and support to Departments across the University (total turnover exceeds £600m). The salary for both posts is in the range of £25,888 to £33,780 a year.

The successful applicant will be ready to respond to demands and be pro-active in identifying potential problem areas, suggesting corrective action where applicable. This will involve building relationships with staff at all levels across the University and working alongside members of the Finance Adviser team.

Applicants should have excellent communication, analytical, and IT skills (particularly MS Excel), and whilst being strong team players, will also be able to work independently. Ideally, applicants will be recently qualified or working towards a recognized professional accounting qualification and have experience of working in a medium/large organization.

Finance Adviser to the School of the Physical Sciences

The post-holder will provide financial support to a group of eight Departments and a Research Institute within the School, with total expenditure in excess of £93m a year. This role reports to the School Finance Manager. When applying, please quote reference AG03525.

The post-holder will provide financial support to a wide variety of Academic and Staff and Student Services bodies, collectively known as the Non-School Institutions; these include the Fitzwilliam Museum, the University Computing Service, and the University's various libraries among others.
