LECTURERSHIP IN PHILOSOPHY

The Governing Body proposes to elect a six-hour Stipendiary Lecturership in Philosophy for one year only from 1 October 2008. The Lecturer will have a broad competence in modern philosophy, including in particular the ability to teach papers 101, 102, and 103 (see http://www.philosophy.ox.ac.uk/undergraduate/course_descriptions/ or http://www.queens.ox.ac.uk/vacancies/). The basic stipend will be on a scale starting at £11,501 a year (under review) together with certain other allowances.

LECTURERSHIP IN POLITICS (INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS)

The Queen's College proposes, if a suitable candidate applies, to appoint an eight-hour Stipendiary Lecturer in Politics (International Relations) for the academical year 2008-09.

The Lecturer will be required to teach some part of the first-year papers Introduction to Politics (Preliminary Examination in PPE) and Introduction to Political Institutions (Modern History and Politics). He or she would also be expected to teach the Politics core paper International Relations and one or more of the optional papers in International Relations. He or she will be expected to teach an average of eight hours a week, and to participate in the undergraduate admissions exercise in December 2008.

The stipend will be £15,335 a year (under review), plus a housing allowance of £3,152. Certain other allowances may also be available.
