COLLEGE LECTURESHIP IN MATHEMATICS

Applications are invited by Churchill College for the fixed-term post of College Lecturer in Mathematics for the period 1 September 2008 to 31 August 2013. The successful applicant will be elected to a Fellowship in Churchill College, where he/she will be expected to direct undergraduate studies and to teach undergraduates Mathematics in small groups for 12 hours a week, 20 weeks of the year, with a particular focus on the first- and second-year undergraduate Mathematics courses that are taught by members of the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics (DPMMS). He/she will also be required to conduct and publish research and to participate fully in the undergraduate admissions process. Applications from those with research and teaching interests in any relevant branch of Mathematics will be welcome. The pensionable stipend will be within points 39-44 on the University pay spine (currently £25,134 to £29,139 a year). The post is a fixed-term one of five years' duration, but it is possible that a new appointment to the retirement age might be made thereafter.

Candidates should also arrange for three confidential references, focusing on research, and on teaching experience and capability, to be sent to the Senior Tutor by the same date. Interviews for short-listed candidates are likely to take place on 4 June 2008.

In collaboration with The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and Magnum Photos, there is an exhibition of 40 large works by the distinguished British photographer, Mark Power, at Churchill College, Storey's Way, Cambridge, CB3 0DS. The exhibition is open daily from 10 April to 18 May 2008, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
