University Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Farm Animal Studies in the Department of Veterinary Medicine

An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated individual to work in the broad area of farm animal science and veterinary public health. The team that the successful applicant will join delivers teaching to high-quality clinical students, with approximately 70 students per year group. A limited contribution to the clinical activities of the section is also envisaged.

The position offers exciting opportunities in research, with the individual being embedded in a supportive infrastructure that allows independent research but with the ability to exploit the strong, established research groups in the Department, and the wider University. The main groups of interest in the Department are likely to be those that work in infection and immunity, and these include the Cambridge Infectious Disease Consortium, which supports epidemiology, modelling, and veterinary public health research. The other established research themes in the Department are neuroscience, genetics, and clinical science.

The successful candidate will be research active and have a Ph.D. Degree, along with a degree eligible for RCVS membership and some clinical experience in farm animal medicine.

Appointments made at University Lecturer level will be for a probationary period of five years, with appointment to the retiring age thereafter. The pensionable scale of stipends for a University Lecturer is currently £33,779 to £42,791 a year, and for a University Senior Lecturer is currently £45,397 to £48,161 a year.

Informal enquiries may be made to Mrs Karin Mueller (University Physician in Large Animal Medicine, e-mail km281@cam.ac.uk) or Dr Dan Tucker (Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Public Health, e-mail awt1000@cam.ac.uk).

Further particulars are available at: http://www.vet.cam.ac.uk/news/.
