COLLEGE LECTURESHIP IN HISTORY

Applications are invited by Churchill College and New Hall for the fixed-term, shared post of College Lecturer in History for the period 1 September 2008 to 31 August 2013. The successful applicant will be elected to a Fellowship in Churchill College. S/he will be expected to direct undergraduate studies in History at Churchill and to assist with this at New Hall, and will be required to teach undergraduates in small groups for both Colleges for 12 hours per week, 20 weeks of the year. S/he will also be required to conduct and publish research and to participate fully in the undergraduate admissions process. Applications are sought from those with research and teaching interests in: Early Modern or Modern British Social and Economic; Modern British Political; Early Modern or Modern European; American; Extra-European. Preference may be given to candidates who are able to teach two papers in Part I of the Cambridge Historical Tripos. The pensionable stipend will be within points 39-44 on the University pay spine (currently £25,134-£29,139 a year). The post is a fixed-term one of five years' duration, but it is possible that a new appointment to the retirement age might be made thereafter in the light of a review of teaching needs in the subject in both Colleges.
