Christ's College, Cambridge, is offering a one-year Research Scholarship in History, for the academic year 2008-09, designed to support scholars at an early stage of their research career. The Scholarship may be used to support a year of pre-Ph.D. independent study, either before or after an M.Phil. Degree in History. Previous Scholars have used the Scholarship for learning a language or mastering an adjacent scholarly field, and the Fund Managers will give priority to candidates of this character. However, the Scholarship is also available to provide partial support to candidates for M.Phil. Degrees in the Faculty of History at Cambridge.
The Scholarship is open to graduates of any university. They must have received their first degree by August 2008 and not have graduated from their first degree earlier than May 2007. Holders of the Scholarship must become members of Christ's College. The Scholarship is worth £10,000. It also pays up to £2,000 as a supplementary allowance towards the cost of maintenance, research, or fees.
