Examination in Computer Speech, Text, and Internet Technology for the degree of Master of Philosophy

With effect from 1 October 2007

The Degree Committee for the Faculty of Computer Science and Technology have revised the special regulations for the examination in Computer Speech, Text, and Internet Technology for the M.Phil. Degree.

The students who are currently following this course were informed that the changes in regulations were already in effect and have been preparing for the examinations under the regulations as set out below.

Computer Speech, Text, and Internet Technology

The scheme of examination for the one-year course of study in Computer Speech, Text, and Internet Technology for the degree of Master of Philosophy shall consist of:
(a) five modules selected from a set of mandatory and optional modules; each module shall be examined either by a written paper of a length to be notified or by course-work, or by a combination of the two; and
(b) a thesis, of not more than 15,000 words in length, including footnotes, appendices, and bibliography, on a topic approved by the Degree Committee.

The examination may include, at the discretion of the Examiners, an oral presentation of the project work on which the thesis is based and an oral examination on the work submitted by the candidate under (a) and (b) above and on the general field of knowledge within which such work falls.
