FACULTY BOARD SECRETARIES IN THE HUMANITIES DIVISION

The Humanities Division is looking for two individuals with high intellectual ability and administrative experience in higher education or a similar field to join its administrative team. There is one permanent position, with primary responsibility for the large and complex Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages, and a second, temporary position (to cover maternity leave) within Oriental Studies. The salary will be in the range of £33,779 to £40,335 a year (grade 8, under review), with a discretionary range to £44,074 a year.

These are challenging roles requiring excellent skills in personnel and financial management, as well as in committee servicing and both written and oral communication. The post-holders will work largely independently, and will need to relate well to staff at all levels. In addition to heading the Faculty administration, they will be expected to work with and advise the Chairman of the Faculty Board on a wide variety of academic policy matters.
