The Vice-Chancellor gives notice that she has received with gratitude a benefaction from the Staples Trust to support teaching and research in Gender Studies in the University. This benefaction, which together with other sums available for the same purpose currently amounts to approximately £1.1m in total, will be used to endow a University Lectureship in Gender Studies in the Department of Geography. The Lecturer will be the Director of the interdisciplinary Centre for Gender Studies which will be based in the Department.
The Council is submitting a Grace to the Regent House (Grace 1, p. 584) for the approval of regulations to govern the benefaction.
