Jesus College

ONE-YEAR COLLEGE AND DEPARTMENTAL LECTURESHIP IN BRITISH AND EUROPEAN HISTORY IN THE NINETEENTH AND TWENTIETH CENTURIES

Jesus College, Oxford and the Faculty of History are pleased to invite applications for a one-year, fixed-term College Lectureship and Departmental Lectureship in Modern History, tenable from 1 October 2008. Applications are welcome from those with active research interests in any field of nineteenth- and twentieth-century British and European History. The appointment has been created to fulfil teaching needs while a current post-holder holds a British Academy Senior Research Fellowship, and is non-renewable.

The post offers an excellent opportunity for career development, with varied teaching and lecturing experience, as well as time to pursue research. For the College, the appointee will provide a total of eight hours of tutorial teaching a week during term, and participate in the pastoral care of students and the administration of History within the College, including admissions and marking College examinations. The appointee will be a member of the Faculty of History, providing up to a maximum of sixteen lectures or classes a year, and participating in University examining at undergraduate and taught graduate level.

The stipend for the post will be point 1 of Grade 7 of the University's Academic-Related scale, currently £26,666 a year.
