The Royal Anniversary Trust announced on 15 November 2007 that the University of Cambridge had been awarded one of the Queen's Anniversary Prizes for Higher and Further Education for an application made in respect of the Institute of Biotechnology. Part of the Citation for the Prize stated that 'The University's Institute of Biotechnology provides a model for the integration of innovative multidisciplinary research, industrial collaboration, entrepreneurial training and commercial exploitation in a single organisation'. At Buckingham Palace on Thursday, 14 February 2008, HM The Queen presented a Prize Medal and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh presented a Prize Certificate to representatives of the University.
