Announcement of lectures, seminars, etc.

The following lectures, seminars, etc. will be open to members of the University and others who are interested:

Criminology. Professor Maureen Cain, Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Criminology, will give a public seminar, entitled Crimes of the global state: empirical clarity, conceptual confusion, and democratic deficit, at 5.30 p.m. on 28 February in Seminar Room B3 at the Institute of Criminology, Sidgwick Avenue.

Education. A meeting of the Mathematics Education Colloquia will take place on 3 March at 5.30 p.m. (not 3.30 p.m. as previously advertised) in the Faculty of Education, Room G05, Mary Allan Building, Hills Road. Ms Marilena Petrou, of Queens' College, will speak on The role of 'schema problems' in Cypriot mathematics education. Enquiries should be directed to Dr Tim Rowland (e-mail tr202@cam.ac.uk). Tea and coffee will be available prior to the meeting.

A Mathematics Education Lunchtime Seminar will take place on 4 March at 1 p.m. in the Faculty of Education, Room 2S3, 184 Hills Road. Mr Eligio Cerval-Peña, of the University of Birmingham, will lead a seminar, entitled On designing a multi-line entry formative feedback computer system. Gender Studies. Dr Janet Soskice, of the Faculty of Divinity, will give a Gender Skills Training Workshop, entitled God and gender: gender in theology and religious studies, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on 26 February, in the Upper Hall, Jesus College. The 11th Annual Gender Studies Symposium, entitled Gender and history, will take place on 7 March 2008, from 10 a.m. until 5.15 p.m., in the Umney Theatre, Robinson College.
