STIPENDIARY LECTURESHIP IN POLITICS

Applications are invited for a fixed-term Stipendiary Lectureship in Politics, to provide teaching in Comparative Government and/or International Relations during the 2008-09 academical year.

Candidates must be able to provide teaching for three papers in the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) and Modern History and Politics (MHP) undergraduate syllabus, including the Comparative Politics core paper (paper 201) and/or the International Relations core paper (214), and the institutional parts of the Politics Prelim. The post is for a fixed period of one year from 15 September 2008. The salary will be on the Senior Tutors' stipendiary lectureship scale, which on 1 May 2008 will rise to £23,002 to £25,229 (depending on experience) for a full twelve-hour stint. In addition to teaching eight hours a week averaged over the three eight-week terms of the year, the Lecturer will be responsible, jointly with Dr Marc Stears, for the organization of the subject and for the provision of pastoral care and the academic welfare of the College's students in relevant subjects. The successful candidate will also be required to set start-of-term collections (mock College examinations), participate in the admissions interviews in Michaelmas Term, and assist with data-entry for admissions through the ADSS computer system.

The Lecturer will have a share of a room in College and will be entitled to lunch and dinner free of charge in College throughout the year when the kitchens are open, and to a number of other benefits.
